It's Not A Feeling

Good Morning Girls!  I feel excited when I get a new outfit.  I feel happy when I am with my friends.  I feel content when I am hanging out with my family.  I feel energized when I workout.  I feel angry when I am misunderstood.  I feel joy
when......when.....well, I guess I don't feel joy about anything.  Oh no, poor Jen, why is that?  I believe it is because joy is not so much a feeling, as it is a part of who you are.  You don't feel joy, you have joy!  Joy is not a temporary feeling that you experience on occasion . You either have it, or you don't.  Emotional responses to circumstance are feelings.  Beliefs and behavior that are constant regardless of circumstance make up who you are.  If you are a joyful person, it doesn't mean you float around giggling and singing.  No, if you are a joyful person, it means that regardless of the situation, deep inside you, you still believe God is good.  You still believe you will experience happiness.  You still believe God has a wonderful plan for your life. Even in the midst of a tragedy, when you are weeping, you still have joy, even though you do not feel happy. It is still a part of you.  There is comfort, peace, and strength in joy!  Sounds good doesn't it.  Do you want joy?  Do you want to know how to get that kind of joy?  I will tell you.........tomorrow.

Nehemiah 8:10  Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Love you all-
Jen
