What's Weighing You Down?
Good Morning Girls! It's not always easy running the race God has set before me. First of all, it seems like it took forever to even know what my race was. I just kept wandering over to any old "start line" I thought sounded good at the time. So how did I finally end up at the right race? I learned that God operates differently than the rest of us. He doesn't write down and post on our fridge our daily, weekly, and annual goals. He doesn't write out our five year plan and drop them in an envelope from heaven. Even though He knows every intimate detail of every day to come, He doesn't disclose that information to me all at once. He gives me one thing at a time. He gives me simple direction that leads me down my race track. I used to try so hard to get to the finish line that I would help God and do things I was pretty sure He would want me to do. It usually ended with me in the gravel with my hand raised waiting for Him to help me up (and He always did). Now I am learning to take direction and fully trust in Him. What is the ultimate direction of my race? I don't know! I have an idea where the Lord is moving me, but I've been wrong before, so I am not going to count on anything other than the fact that he loves me and indeed has an awesome plan for me. I am now able to be totally content to know that I am simply moving forward, in the right direction. I don't need to know the end from the beginning, I'll let my Daddy take care of that! Wow, that was just my intro, there's more. I started out by saying that it is not always easy running the race. In the past there were many times I made 1 step forward, and 2 steps back. I kept plugging along, doing what the Lord instructed, and eventually I built up some forward momentum. However, there are still times when I move 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Moving forward is hard! I do not want to take any more steps back! The Lord has been telling me (for a couple years now) something that is "weighing me down". I heard Him, but I wasn't ready to listen. I tried to follow His direction, but it never lasted long. It took me long enough, but I have finally stripped of this weight that has been slowing me down. I am not going to share with you what it is yet, because I want you to spend time with the Lord asking Him if anything is weighing you down, and I do not want my thing getting in the way of your hearing Him correctly. Maybe you are being weighed down by something you are doing. Maybe you are weighed down by something you are not doing. It is not an easy assignment, but I know those of you who do it will be blessed. I can't wait to hear your testimonies (and I can't wait to give mine)!
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us
