Holding Pattern

Good Morning Girls!  Have you ever been on an airplane, ready to descend and suddenly you here the pilot say "Good morning folks, there seems to be excess traffic on the runway.  We have been asked to hold our pattern for awhile as we wait for further instruction."  Ok, so I don't know if that is exactly how they say it, but you get the point.  You are just minutes away from your destination, and suddenly you have to wait.  It is completely out of your control.  Sometimes you can even see the ground, but you just keep circling and circling the airport, making no progress at all.  Think of the passengers.  There is one of every personality on each flight (funny how that works out).  There is one who immediately starts grumbling about how they will never again fly that airline.  One guy pulls the blanket over his head wishing he could just sleep until everything is just as it is supposed to be. There is someone who starts to panic because she is supposed to connect to another flight and now she will miss it.  Suddenly every kid in diapers  poops, leaving a stuffy stale stench in the air.  Babies decide in unison it is time to voice their opinion. Someone else suggests they just fly over to such and such airport, it would take less time.....which gets the panicky connection flight lady hysterical.  And one woman simply keeps reading her book and sipping the last bit of her complimentary soda (do you even get that anymore?).  Yes, she would like to be landing as scheduled.  She also has places to be, people to see, a specific destination.  However, she continues to read and relax, confident that in the end she will get to where she needs to be.  No sense in getting worked up about something she has no control over.  This scene continues for the duration of the "holding pattern".  When the pilot informs them they are next in line, everyone is relieved.  A couple mumble words of "finally" or "it's about time".   The book lady simply puts away her things, and flattens the wrinkles out of her clothes. She exits the plane with a smile on her face,  forgetting the delay. She is simply happy to be at her destination.  The others exit, still grumbling, or panicky, or smelling like poop.  Now let me ask you: did everyone make it off the plane?  Did everyone get to their destination?  Even if the connecting flight lady had to have her plans changed a little, did she get to her destination?  Who would you suppose enjoyed arriving at their destination the most, from the very second they arrived?  So Girls, next time life puts you in a holding pattern, don't grumble to the Pilot.  He's got it all under control.  He will make sure you get to your destination on time.....His time.  Wait patiently, read your Book, and enjoy being chauffeured around by the Lord!

Psalm 37:7 Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act.

Love you all-
Jen
